An updated flood watch was issued by the NWS Blacksburg VA on Tuesday at 4:32 p.m. in effect until 8 p.m. The watch is for Ashe, Alleghany, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin counties.

At 3:27 p.m. on Tuesday, the NWS Wakefield VA issued an updated flood watch in effect until Wednesday at 2 a.m. The watch is for Northampton, Hertford, Gates, Bertie, Chowan and Perquimans counties.

Western North Carolina is again being targeted by hazardous rainfall that forecasters say is expected to lead to its “first noteworthy flood threat” since last September’s deadly Hurricane Helene.
